Q - How long have you been involved with DnB?
A- I’ve been into the scene for about 13 years now, basically D&B evolved while I was making music from the early days. The music we make has had so many titles, D&B is just the latest one!
Q- Can you remember your first public
appearance and if so what was it like?
A- Well, my first ever record was a remix I done for Flourgon & Ninjaman, it was more of a Ragga/Hip-Hop tune, so I suppose my first ever gig as a producer was in a place near Watford, I was playing with David Rodigon.
Q- How did you get your first big break in the
scene?
A- My first big break came about when I was working in Red Records in Soho, I’d done the Flourgon & Ninjaman mix at home and played it to a few people in the shop, when someone from Jetstar heard it and took it to the big man, the legendary Mr Parmer! Jetstar released it and it done really well, that really got my foot in the door. After that I done another remix for Cutty Ranks called ‘The Stopper’
Q- What tune are you feeling at the minute?
A- Probably Makoto ‘Eastern Dub’
Q- If you were to collaborate with anyone who
would it be?
A- Too many really, probably any producer/vocalist that I grew up listening to, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Big Daddy Kane…..
Q- Most Memorable moment of 2004??
A- The launch of my new website www.strictly-digital.com it’s basically a specialist dance music mp3 download portal.
Q- what do you want to achieve by close of
2004
A- To finish my latest album which has taken ages to complete!
Q- Who do you rate as an MC?
A- Conrad, GQ, System, Fats, Cleveland Watkiss
Q- Who do you rate as a DJ?
A- In the D&B scene, Fabio, Grooverider, Bukem, Andy C, Swift to name but a few
Q- What was your back up plan in life if you
weren’t doing this?
A- I studied IT at college so probably something in computing, but I always knew that I wanted to be involved in the music scene in some form
Q- Would you ever do top of the pops?
A- Show me the money!
Q- Who wouldn’t you work with??
A- Never say never….
Q- Favourite venue?
A- Liquid Rooms in Tokyo, I think it’s on around the 25th floor and holds about 2000 people, the sound system is amazing on stage and on the dancefloor
Q- What DNB forums do you use?
A- Not many really, don’t have too
much time, but if I do it’s LondonDnB, Drum & Bass arena, Dogs on
Acid..
Q- Playing next??
A- Belgrade and Novi Sad in Yugoslavia
Q- Where you going on holiday this year?
A- Back to the motherland……Mauritius!
